The Secretary's Report
Cranmog AGM May 2024.
Centre Secretary’s Report
It has been delightful to go out once again in the Morgan and mix, chat and picnic with all our friends at the many events that have taken place throughout the year. I would like to personally give a huge Thank You to those who managed to organise the events for CranMog. We are all very grateful to you, otherwise we would not have a chance to meet up together.
The CranMog monthly noggins take place at The Jolly Coopers in Wardhedges, Flitton. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month. We no longer provide refreshments at our noggins as this doesn’t fit in with the Jolly Coopers kitchen time frames, but I believe we are surviving without them!
Every member of CranMog, the MSCC or guests are very welcome to come to our meetings.
All of our communication to members is via email or our website. Our events are also published in our Centre report in Miscellany. May I invite members to submit a report on events either to Miscellany or our website www.cranmog.org. I circulate the monthly ‘Matters to Discuss’ for our meetings a few days beforehand to all members, giving members a list of upcoming events and also a note of what they have missed.
We always need members to organise events and if you wish to arrange any events, please contact the Event Coordinator to discuss the possible dates, this is to ensure that you don’t clash with anyone who is already creating an event for your chosen date. You do not have to be an expert to arrange an event, if you have any ideas about things that you would like to do and that you think others would also enjoy, please think about arranging it. It does not have to be onerous, and it could just be arranging a visit to somewhere or a drive out for lunch like our Roving Sundays which are proving very successful and also the new Rock Up and Chat which is simply that, a member suggests a time and venue with decent tea/coffee and hopefully cake, during the week or weekends and anyone who is free is welcome to turn up – no organising necessary!
We have a large membership of approximately 200 members, this is the number of registered members and does not include for instance the unregistered ‘other half’ of a couple. The introduction of £5 per person membership fee has not deterred the number of keen new and old Morganneers joining our Centre and we have been pleased to welcome new members throughout the year.
We do not circulate our Membership list to members as per the MSCC policy.
Membership was due for renewal in April again, we are keeping the same rate of £5 per person to join the Centre and of course this means that the person who registers is the person who will receive all Centre communication.
As a Centre we have occasional costs and this is all contained in the Treasurer’s report in full detail. We also sometimes are required to pay an upfront deposit for events that we are going to hold, for example the Birthday Party.
For any trips/events organised by members on behalf of the Centre we use the CranMog Bank account to hold deposits paid in and to make payments. This saves any member from having to pay for anything out of their own funds and also protects our members.
We pay a fee for the running of the website and for the Zoom account. A very small income for the Centre is generated by providing Regalia for members.
Please see attached copy of the Treasurer’s report for full details.
May I remind you that the Centre Secretary is also your representative at the MSCC NCM’s. If you want any matter raised or information, please contact your Centre Secretary and it can be taken forward.
Since MOG2016 when Medical Detection Dogs was chosen as our Charity for that event, we have continued to support that charity in a very small way.
We asked that nominations were made for other charities that the Centre would like to support and for these to be put forward to be voted on at the AGM. However, I have not received any notification so we will vote on continuing to support Medical Detection Dogs at the AGM.
I would like to thank all those who have once again volunteered to put themselves forward for election for the Officer roles at the AGM and welcome our new Committee members of the new Centre Secretary and the New Member Representative all of whom I know will provide great support for the Centre and for the MSCC. Thank you, Officers of the Centre, without your efforts we would not have a Centre.
I would also like to thank all of you for your support over the past years, I have thoroughly enjoyed talking and getting to know so many people over the whole of the UK and Europe whilst in this role, Jim and I have made so many wonderful friends and travelled through so many countries on wonderful routes to places we would never have gone to, with fantastic groups in Morgans and even though I am stepping down from the role of Centre Secretary (to the Premier Centre!) we are not leaving the Morgan world and will continue to enjoy the company of our many pals, albeit probably in my darkened MX5!
Thank you everyone for making this role so pleasant and rewarding.
